The Course
Overview
The Legacy is a Henderson desert course about 15 to 20 minutes from the Strip. The 7,168-yard par-72 layout (74.4 rating / 143 slope) is known for manicured conditioning, multi-tiered fairways, and large undulating greens — and for two signature touches: the par-3 10th, whose tee boxes are shaped like a heart, spade, club, and diamond, and the back-nine 'Devil's Triangle' (holes 11–13), where a long par-4 gives way to two short, dangerous par-4s with elevated, unforgiving greens.
History
Course history
The Legacy Golf Club opened in 1989 in Henderson, designed by Arthur Hills, with revisions by John Fought and Todd Schoeder in 1996. It has hosted U.S. Open local qualifying and AJGA junior events over the years.
Design
Design philosophy
Arthur Hills built a demanding desert test — multi-tiered fairways and big contoured greens — with the card-suit 10th and the Devil's Triangle adding a distinctly Las Vegas sense of theater.
The Round
Strategic layout
The 143 slope is no accident: tiered fairways, large greens, and the Devil's Triangle's elevated targets make positioning and a sharp short game essential.
