The Course
Overview
Las Vegas Country Club is a private, central-valley club with a classic parkland design — wide fairways, abundant turf, and water hazards — in a market dominated by desert-target golf. The 18-hole layout plays 7,164 yards to a par 72 (72.8 rating / 128 slope).
History
Course history
Las Vegas Country Club opened in 1967, designed by Edmund B. Ault, and was for decades the social and golfing center of the city. The course was later enhanced by Ron Garl (1981) and Mark Rathert (2009).
Design
Design philosophy
Edmund Ault's 1967 routing is pure parkland — tree-lined, grassed, and water-defended — a deliberate contrast to the desert style that came to define Las Vegas golf.
The Round
Strategic layout
Water hazards and mature trees are the principal defenses; the course rewards straight, positional play over power.
