About Desert Pines Golf Club
Desert Pines is often called the Pinehurst of Las Vegas. Thousands of mature pines line bermuda fairways, with white-sand bunkers guarding large, undulating bentgrass greens. The 18-hole layout plays 6,810 yards to a par 71 (70.4 rating / 122 slope), with water in play on nine holes — a lush Carolina-sandhills experience set just off the Strip.
History
Desert Pines Golf Club — History
Desert Pines Golf Club opened in 1996, designed by Perry Dye of the renowned Dye golf-architecture family. Built minutes from downtown Las Vegas, it was conceived as a Carolina-style departure from desert-target golf and earned a Golf Digest 'Best New Upscale Courses in America' nod in its debut year.
Design
Desert Pines Golf Club — Design
Perry Dye's design swaps desert waste for pine-framed corridors — a deliberate Carolinas homage. The Dye signature shows in the strategic bunkering and the contoured green complexes.
The Round
Desert Pines Golf Club — Strategic Layout
Pines tighten the driving lines and water threatens half the holes; the course rewards controlled ball flight and smart positioning into the large greens over aggressive driving.
